North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne with Alison McNulty TinyLife, Chief Executive

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has pledged his support to the 'Tiny Life' and 'Bliss' Baby Charities at an event at Parliament Buildings, Stormont. The MLA added:

‘I was pleased to be able to lend my support to the launch of a new report looking at ways to improve services for babies who are born prematurely or sick across Northern Ireland. This latest report provides key findings and research into the difficulties experienced by parents and families and will hopefully go some way in raising awareness and improving services locally and outlines how well neonatal units across Northern Ireland are performing in relation to national standards for neonatal care. There are many examples of incredible work being carried out by neonatal staff across Northern Ireland to ensure that all babies get the best chance to survive and thrive and it is extremely important that units are given the resources to get neonatal care right and learn more about the issues facing families whose baby requires neonatal care to survive and thrive and to show support for the work of Bliss and TinyLife.
Obviously, having a premature or sick baby is a very difficult time and situation for any mother and family and it is often only through charities like ‘Tiny Life’ and ‘Bliss’ that people are able to find a source of assistance and help. I would like to commend these charities who play a pivotal role in supporting those who find themselves in this worrying situation. ‘Tiny Life’ is a charity which works to reduce premature birth, illness, disability and death in babies and provides a wide range of family support services. ‘Bliss’ also provides both practical and emotional support to families and is known as a special care baby charity and helps to lobby for improvements across the Health Service. Both of these charities deserve our support and we should be grateful for the important work which they carry out.’
