North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne at dirty sign on the dangerous A2 Dual Carriageway.

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has welcomed the ‘Winter Clean’ from Transport NI for many Road Signs along the A2 Bangor to Belfast Dual. Mr Dunne added

‘I am pleased that after a long campaign that Transport NI have now given many of the road warning signs along the A2 a ‘Winter Wash’ which has made many of them now legible as many had become very dirty with algae and road dirt built up over a number of years. I consistently raised this issue with senior officials within Transport NI for a number of years and I am glad that action has now finally been taken to clean this signs which are there for a reason.

It is vital that every possible step is taken to make the A2 Bangor to Belfast Dual Carriageway as safe as possible, and something as simple as cleaning signage is an important way to raise important changes in the road layout for the many motorists who use this route on a daily basis. There are thousands of commuters on this road every day and also many visitors who use it regularly and may not be as familiar with the route as others, therefore it is imperative that warning signs are clear and readable for all road users and that every possible step is taken to improve road safety.’
