Seal of Approval for Holywood High Street

North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has given his seal of approval to the newly resurfaced Holywood High Street. The MLA added:

‘I am delighted that the High Street in Holywood has now been resurfaced. This work was long overdue and is something which I have long campaigned for and had consistently raised the need for this work with successive Transport NI Ministers over recent years. This seal of approval certainly helps to put the finishing touches to the town following the recent public realm works, and the ongoing phase 2 public realm works in Sullivan Place and Redburn Square. This investment has given all of the main towns in North Down, in Bangor, Donaghadee and Holywood a real facelift and I believe this investment will help to transform the towns and bring economic benefits to local businesses, residents and visitors alike. The High Street surface in Holywood had become very rough over recent years and this new finish has left a great finish on the new road surface.

I would commend the patience and co-operation of local residents and traders during this work and the work of the Holywood Chamber of Commerce who also worked alongside Transport NI to deliver this smooth finish without major disruption. I will be continuing to work alongside the Council and Central Government to ensure we see continued and renewed investment in our town centres and villages going forward. Vibrant and attractive town centres are key ingredients to ensure our local economy continues to grow and develop and also helps to improve the area for local ratepayers and residents alike.’
