North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has praised the work of the Coastguard after rescuing two girls on the rocks at Ballymacormick Point in Bangor. The MLA added

‘I would like to commend the quick thinking work of the Coastguard rescue team, Bangor Lifeboat and Coastguard Helicopter for their excellent work in rescuing two teenage girls who had become stranded on the rocks in Ballymacormick Point in Bangor. This could have been a very serious incident and I am thankful that the girls were rescued in time in what was a becoming a very serious situation.

This serves as a reminder to us all across North Down of the dangers of our coastline, many enjoy our splendid Coastline particularly in the upcoming months of better weather and it is important that we all take care whilst along our Coastal areas even if it’s just for a casual walk. An event link this reminds us of the sterling work of our emergency services and the importance of treating them with the respect they deserve. Recently we have had reports of hoax calls to our emergency services, and real events like these remind us of the dangers of hoax calls.’
