North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has welcomed the Development Brief launched by the Communities Minister Paul Givan. The MLA added:

'I am delighted that the Development Brief has now been launched by the Communities Minister Paul Givan. Queen's Parade has been a real plague on the Bangor Seafront now for so many years and has really had a crippling impact upon North Down for so long. I am really pleased that real progress is now being made with the Development Brief being launched by the Minister and I hope the regeneration of Bangor Town Centre will take a real step forward.

There has been considerable investment in Bangor Town Centre through the Public Realm works which have been funded by the previous Department for Social Development in conjunction with the Council which has undoubtedly helped to transform the streetscape and presentation of the area. I trust that real progress will now be made to build on the success of the Public Realm scheme to date.

I very much welcome the continued interest from recent Executive Ministers including the current Minister Paul Givan in seeing this part of Bangor transformed and regenerated and would pay tribute to the work of his Department and in particular Damian Mulholland for driving forward this project. As a long time elected representative I am all to aware of the frustration experienced around the delay in seeing progress on this long running issue and am determined to assist in any way to see this scheme progressed.'
